Frequently Asked Questions

This is a simple list of our most frequently ask questions. If you have any other question or need help with your garment you may contact us to assist you.

We’ve had this store on Queen West for over 6 years, while Lilit (founder) has been in the business for over 28 years.
We offer top quality creative tailoring for all your needs, from pant hems to avant garde costumes and custom made tailoring from a picture or an idea. Custom designed evening and wedding dresses, professional alteration and prototyping. Some of the things we do:
  • Custom fit your jackets and pants
  • Remodel your favourite vintage piece into something more trendy and wearable
  • Replace damaged zippers
  • Mend tears in old clothing or re-line old jackets and coats
  • Costume and avant garde alterations
  • Make you a dress from a picture
  • Tailoring for your home
It depends on the item and type of alteration. We usually don’t do rush orders as quality requires time but if the job is minor and we have enough hands to prioritize the job — we try to accommodate with a rush fee added. More complicated repair may take from 2 to 4 weeks. Custom tailored pieces usually require more time — from 6 to 10 weeks.
Altough we take drop ins, it is best to book an appointment to guarantee the time and attention you deserve.
Absolutely. We value vintage and family owned pieces just as much as you. Bring it in and we would love to help you work your sentimental fabric into something wearable and trendy.

We have experience working with various sorts of materials and all types of fabrics. We also work with leather, suede and fur. Some other fabrics include PU, plastic, home fabrics: heavy and light. Give us a call at 647-977-8336 if you have any inquires about non fabric materials.

Yes, we’d be happy to help make your dream of the perfect dress come true!
Our service fee always depends on the amount of work and time spent on each garment, regardless the price that been paid for it initially. So yes, it is pretty common for a client to spend $250 (or more) to alter a $50 dress.
Although we are always extra cautious, accidents can always happen. If something unfortunate happens, we’d be happy to fully reimburse for the garment.
Since we have everything we need at our studio — we prefer to work in house, however we offer the service outside too with an additional hour rate.
We can’t tell for sure until we physically see the dress and determine the amount of work involved. Every dress is unique — depending on the fabric, the way it fits, the finishing details and more.

Lilit is just wonderful, I went to so many places around the city to find someone who could help alter my wedding dress at a reasonable price. And Lilit fit the bill perfectly. She's warm, kind, very friendly and great at what she does. Where other places wanted to cut parts of my dress, she found way to preserve the pattern and it looks amazing! Can't recommend her enough!

I've never been happier with an alteration. I love my dress. It needed a shortening of the lengths of two layers but it was not a straightforward job and I'm glad I didn't take it to just anyone. I didn't have the time to try it on before I took it home, but it was exactly what I wanted. And also, you two are lovely people. I'll be back soon!
